About George Parkinson

I was born in Aberdeenshire and have lived here all my life. I went to Kincardine O’Neil Primary School which during my time there competed in Gruff Kids Scotland competition (1997). I entered the competition with four friends and we went on to win the competition, we restored an old walk which had previously been closed and erected a well to honour the village’s patron saint St. Erchard. I went on to Aboyne Academy then on to study at Robert Gordon University where I earned a BSc degree in computer science.

In Kincardine O Neil I have been involved in reviving the local community association which had previously collapsed, and in setting up the twinning association, in which I contacted villages across Europe to find a twinning partner and also communicated with chosen village to arrange first visit to Scotland. Previously I worked on the village hall committee where I was able to help change the focus of events to be more family oriented. I have also setup an exhibition in Banchory Museum on the history of Kincardine O’Neil and all the pictures and information from the museum are now part of www.kincardineoneil.co.uk, which I also created.
